Follow Me, Sisters!
Tap anywhere in the meadow to bloom a flower. Forager No. 900 will fly home and tell the whole hive exactly where it is — in total darkness, on a vertical wall of wax, by dancing the angle between the flower and a sun she cannot see.
She is dancing…
Straight up the comb means “toward the sun.” The angle of the waggle run from vertical is the angle of the flower from the sun. The longer she waggles, the farther it is — roughly a second for every kilometre. The real sun moves fifteen degrees an hour and the bees correct for it as they dance; ours is in a bit of a hurry, so watch her turn with it. Then she loops back, alternating left and right, and does it again, and again, until enough sisters have gone.
